View full detailsThe name of Malcolm Root FGRA is most likely known to anyone with an interest in transport art, especially railways, and we are very pleased that he has seen fit to join us.
Malcolm was born in Colchester in 1950 and has had a lifelong fascination with all forms of transport. We think you will agree, the nostalgia created by a Root painting is some of the finest any collector will find. His use of subtle colours and wonderful composition, combined with an expert knowledge of his subject and undeniable skill in both technical drawing and painting techniques have seen him become one of the biggest names in our field.
After leaving school, Malcolm entered the printing trade but continued to paint until he took the momentous decision to become a full time artist in 1981. Over the next few years he was to hone his skills, picking up numerous commissions along the way and being elected to become a full member of the Guild of Railway Artists in 1983.
Malcolm's work has appeared in publications, including four of his own books, greetings cards, puzzles, commemorative plates and myriad other items, making him one of Britain's most recognisable transport artists.
In 2010 he was awarded the accolade of Fellow of the Guild of Railway Artists, the highest rank achievable.
While he is now retired, we are proud to work with this master of his craft to bring you some of the best transport art prints and cards available. We will be selling Limited Edition prints of his Railway art and aviation art, as well as blank greetings and Christmas cards featuring his work.
