Britannia Steam Train Blank Birthday Fathers Day Card by Railway Artist Malcolm Root FGRA
The Britannia class brought such an improvement in performance to the former Great Eastern lines of BR running from Liverpool Street that the timetable had to be re-written to get the best from them. Loved by footplate crews they proved their worth time and again, the ‘Brits’ would be seen in East Anglia until the end of express steamin on the Great Eastern section the early 1960s.
Here we see 70036 ‘Boadicea’ and 70037 ‘Hereward the Wake’ at Liverpool Street early in their respective careers, probably around 1955.
