Railway Steam Locomotive Birthday Cards- W.D Austerity 2-8-0 at Marks Tey
Following sterling war service a large number of surplus War Department designs became available to the four railway companies, and later British Railways. With the wearing out of a great number of locos from the pre-war era these new engines were gratefully received and put to work. At Marks Tey in East Anglia an “Austerity” or “dub-dee” works a mineral freight.
Malcolm Root FGRA uses his knowledge of both locomotive and local area to turn back the clocks to around 1960 in this railway greeting card.
