The ultimate single-seat Meteor, the F.Mk.8 incorporated numerous improvements over the earlier versions including improved engines and a larger, squarer tail. The F.Mk.8 entered service in 1949 with the first operational squadron, 245 Squadron becoming fully equipped in 1950. A great export success, the aircraft saw service with the Royal Australian Air Force in Korea and served all around the world. A total of 1184 were built and the aircraft equipped no fewer than 30 RAF squadrons.
These aircraft come from both 601 County of London and 604 County of Middlesex squadrons.
