GWR Castle Class Original Railway Oil Painting by Stuart Booth

Though designed by Charles Collett, the Castle class of locomotives owed much to the Star class of Collett's predecessor, George Churchward. Indeed the first Castle class locomotives were actually modified Stars with the first, 4073 Caerphilly Castle, being delivered in 1923 and immediately being hailed as Britain's most powerful locomotive. This Castle is seen skirting the famous coastline around Dawlish with the Torbay Express in later BR days.

This is the original oil on canvas board painting from which our prints and card are taken. It measures 24" x 18" (Approx 61cm x 45cm). This piece is supplied unframed for your own choice of frame.
