Paul Atchinson began painting full time in 1996 and made the decision to specialise in transport subjects, although he was always easily persuaded to return to his former theme of animal portraits.
From 1996 until 2011 Paul was the artist-in-residence for the Crich Tramway Village, and was a full member of the Guild of Motoring Artists for a number of years.
His work tended to centre around buses and commercial transport especially, with the occasional car and motorcycle depicted for good measure. The list of organisations that commissioned him to depict their vehicles was something of a run-down of nearly every major public transport board in Britain.
Paul published his own range of prints that we stocked for many years and his works have featured on greetings cards, postcards, calendars and jigsaws. Each of his limited edition prints carried an embossed stamp of authenticity, and was individually signed and numbered by him. At its height, Paul's range included over 100 different prints, of buses, trams, railways, cars, lorries, motorbikes and aircraft.
He retired in 2024 and is no longer available to commission. Hansen Fine Art are very happy to still be able to publish his cards.
