Goathland, on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, has become famous in recent times for its part in the TV series 'Heartbeat'.
As well as the station, LNER D49 class locomotive was also named"The Goathland", after the hunt that used to take place. In the TV series, a replica nameplate from the locomotive can sometimes be seen.
In John Austin's painting, the long-scrapped locomotive is seen at the station in a most wonderful wintery scene.
