Midland Red Coach Blank Birthday Greetings Card by Mike Jefferies
In an era when many coaches buses and coaches were still styled on pre-war principles , the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus company designed and built this rather fabulous looking vehicle - the C1.
Obviously influenced by the styling of American "Greyhound" buses of the early 1940s, the C1 was first produced in 1948 and looked truly"Space-age" in comparison with other vehicles of the time Its most famous user was Midland Red, who used the vehicles on Express Coach journeys from London to the Midlands and South West among other places.
The vehicle seen in Mike Jefferies' painting is now preserved and can often be seen at Bus Rallies.
