Chris French FGAvA - New Horizons - Hawker-Siddeley Trident - BEA (W)
Hawker-Siddeley Trident Airliner Card by Aviation Artist Chris French FGAvA
The Trident was the first passenger aircraft to be designed with blind landing equipment, enabling it to land in all weather conditions including fog. British European Airways (BEA) changed their requirements so frequently that the original Trident 1 was eventually deemed too small and a larger version with more passenger carrying capacity had to be designed (Trident 2). Ironically, this was closer to Hawker Siddeley's original proposed design. An even larger Trident 3 was subsequently introduced. The depicted aircraft is now preserved at IWM Duxford and belongs to the Duxford Aviation Society.
Larger prints are available, as is the ORIGINAL OIL ON CANVAS Painting.
