McDonnell Douglas Phantom FG.1 Aviation Blank Birthday Greetings Card
Seen on the last cruise of HMS Ark Royal and wearing the '77' marking on its nose commemorating the Queen's Silver Jubilee in 1977, 892 Squadron Phantom FG.1 (F-4K) XT-863 is seen launching while the carrier's Air Sea Rescue Westland Wessex stands ready in case of mishap.
The title comes from a visit by Prince Charles to the carrier on the 13th December 1977 when the aircraft displayed had the wording "Red Thistle Flight" painted on the side along with "Goodbye Mr.C" at the end of his visit. The markings lasted only one day and so mark a very special occasion in the squadron's history.
