One of the drawbacks of the coal-heavy environment up to the late 1960s was a tendency for very heavy fog and smog. It does however give the railway artist a rather wonderfully atmospheric environment into which to place a steam locomotive and here we see a Gresley A3, 60078 Night Hawk crossing the Tyne with a heavy express. The power and strength exuding from the locomotive is clear to see and one can almost smell the steam and hear the rumbling and screech of the wheels on the rails.
