Professionally Built model of the Nieuport 11 (Eduard 1/48)
The French answer to the “Fokker Scourge” was to produce as small a biplane as was practical to mount a weapon on the top wing, firing above the propeller arc. The resulting Nieuport 11 was a very small aircraft, resulting in its affectionate nickname of Bebe. While small, the aircraft did much to redress the balance in the air war of 1916 and gave rise to a whole family of successful aircraft that were to serve to the end of WWI and after. The aircraft was used by the Italian air force as well as the French and first American volunteers.
This is Eduard’s 1/48 “Weekend Edition” model. . It was painted with Tamiya acrylic paints. A similar model, built without modification, would cost £70.00, plus the cost of the kit. Please contact us through the Commissions section if you are interested
