the first lap ahead of Patrick Depailler, Tyrell and Carlos Pace, Brabham. Lauda
led until lap 10 when he had to pit due to a puncture and consequential damage
to the car. After a long stop he recovered to finish third, increasing his
points total on the way to his first World Championship.
