British Army Scammell Commander tank transporter Blank Birthday Card

With British Main Battle Tanks getting increasingly heavy and motor traffic in both the UK and Germany getting progressively faster, the Thornycroft Antar was proving to be too slow for modern traffic. To replace the vehicle Scammell offered the Commander as both a Tank Transporter and Ballast Tractor. Entering service in 1984, the Commander would be one of the last products from the company but would serve the British Army well until 2002 seeing service in Gulf War 1 and Kosovo before being replaced by the even larger Oshkosh Heavy Equipment Transporter. This vehicle is seen transporting a Challenger 1 MBT.

The Chinooks of 7, 18 and 27 squadrons have formed the backbone of RAF battlefield transport for more than a quarter of a century and have taken part in every Exercise from the early 1980s. This painting is set during a BAOR exercise in the late 1980s

This BLANK card would be ideal for any ex-Commander crew member or someone who served during the 1980s.
