Forerunners of the HST, the five ‘Blue Pullman’ train sets were introduced in 1959 and jointly designed by BR and Metro-Cammell. These trains brought excellent in-seat service, emulating both continental rail and airline practices. Here a Western Region set forms the ‘Bristol Pullman’.
