During the war Britain's railways were stretched to breaking point and subsequently needed rebuilding.
Nationalisation in 1948 brought with it some attractive experimental liveries, as shown here on A4 60028 Walter K. Whigham, making a spirited departure from King's Cross station. These liveries would be short lived, though a second blue adorned them from 1949 until the early 1950s when the more familiar Brunswick Green was applied.
