One of the most dominant motorcycles ever to compete in Motorcycle Grand Prix racing, the MV Agusta 500 Three was rode to seven world titles by Giacomo Agostini between 1966 and 1972.

Built to remain on at least parity with the latest Honda bikes, the 500/3 was a development of the company's successful 350cc and when Agostini won the GP title fulfilled the ambitions of MV by having an Italian rider win on an Italian motorcycle.

The MV was a more refined motorcycle than the Honda and had been built up to be a thoroughbred, their not being any plans to do a road-going version of it. The 500/3 would become a legend as the works team easily beat the private entrants of Matchless, Linto, Kawasaki and Suzuki over the next four seasons.
