Railway Christmas Xmas Card featuring a Class 40 40035 Apapa by Neville Robinson
One of the first successful diesel designs introduced in Britain, the Class 40s carried names of ships belonging to famous shipping companies. Though initially successful, such was the speed of early diesel design that by the time of the last ones being built they were already being superseded. Later, as seen here, they found work on secondary duties and mail trains.
