GWR King Class Railway Locomotive Train Blank Birthday or Fathers Day Card by artist Philip D. Hawkins FGRA

Though fairly short lived, the London-Wolverhampton Inter-City train was one of the most successful of the post-war period. Enabling people a fast (for the time) journey in the morning and again in the evening, the train would eventually be curtailed with new rail lines being built. It has however gone on to give its name to the services of the British Rail diesel 125 units and 225 electrics.

Here an ex-GWR "King", 6013 King Henry VIII is seen heading the train with a rake of the BR (W) Umber and Cream Mk.I coaches.
