Every summer, a detachment from a British Army regiment is assigned to
the Balmoral Estate while the Queen is in residence. In 2016, this 'Royal
Guard' was drawn from the 2nd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland. The
painting depicts Her Majesty inspecting the Royal Guard on the 8th August,
marking the official beginning of her stay.
