Supermarine Spitfire Mk.V of 92 Squadron by Aviation Artist Stephen Brown
After the end of the Battle of Britain, the risk to the U.K receded and the RAF was able to rebuild its strength. In 1941 a new version of the excellent Supermarine Spitfire was received by a good number of squadrons, such as 92 Squadron, shown here. The new Spitfire, the Mk.V, was armed with cannon as standard and was to form the backbone of RAF Fighter Command throughout 1941. It would go on and serve in both the middle and far-east and be converted into the sea-going Seafire. The Mk.V would itself be replaced in service by the superior Mk.IX.
This aviation art birthday card would be ideal for anyone with an interest in the Battle of Britain, WWII or Supermarine Spitfire.
