Professionally Built model of the Gloster Meteor F.1 (Tamiya 1/48)

The Meteor holds a very special place in the history of the RAF, as the first jet to enter squadron service. This particular example comes from the very first squadron to become active, 616 Squadron based at Manston in July 1944. Tasked with intercepting V-1 flying bombs, the aircraft proved reasonably successful though it was not as fast as the best piston-engine aircraft available at the time.
