Aichi B7A Grace F6F Hellcat Fleet Air Arm Aviation Art Limited Edition Print by Aviation Artist Darryl Legg
Flying from HMS Indomitable, the Grumman Hellcats of 1844 NAS would be heavily
engaged in the final few months of the conflict while engaged in the battles
for the Sakishima Gunto and later over the Japanese home islands.
During this time the squadrons' pilots were to be successful defending
against both kamikaze and
conventional attacks. An aircraft engaged on several occasions during this time
was the Aichi B7A Ryusei, known to Allied pilots by the code name of Grace.
