The Braintree
Branch in Essex spurs off from Witham on the main line to Norwich. Originally
built extending all the way to Stansted and serving Dunmow and Felsted
along the way.
This extra service
was curtailed to passengers in the 1950s, with current services terminating at
Braintree. The advantages of re-instating the line to Stansted are all too
obvious and there are several proposals to do just this.
