Train Birthday Card showing Coronation class 46220 Coronation by Artist Malcolm Root FGRA
The majestic Coronation Pacifics, known to all enthusiasts as 'Duchesses', were the epitome of Steam-power on the West Coast Main Line. Here the doyen of the class 46220 Coronation is shown hauling typical LMS stock through the area around Shap Summit. The locomotive is shown in the early BR Express Blue colour scheme and is identifiable as one of the former streamlined locomotives by the cut-out to the top of the smokebox area in front of the chimney.
