Steam Train Birthday Cards- 7029 Clun Castle
Entering service in 1923, the Great Western’s “Castle” class have become one of Britain’s most loved locomotives. They are also in the very small category of locomotives that were still built after nationalisation in 1948. One of the locomotives to be built in BR days was 7029 Clun Castle. A favourite with enthusiasts and enginemen alike she is among eight Castle’s in preservation, having spent many years at the Birmingham Railway Centre.
In the Philip D. Hawkins painting used on this railway birthday greeting card she is seen in her heyday on one of the crack expresses.
