Train Birthday Card - Battle of Britain / West Country and Merchant Navy Class Southern Region Pacifics at Exeter Central by Philip D. Hawkins

At Exeter Central an un-rebuilt West Country class, 34015 Exmouth and rebuilt Merchant Navy 35005 Canadian Pacific meet. Two of the last steam locomotives to run on British metals, 35005 is happily preserved in mainline order while 34015 was removed from service in April 1967 and sadly scrapped that September. 34015 is best known for being one of the last locomotives to run on the Somerset and Dorset through Evercreech Junction on a RCTS Rail Tour in 1966.
