Supermarine Stranraer Aviation Art Limited Edition Print by Aviation Artist Darryl Legg
Ordered in 1935, the Stranraer was designed as a replacement for the venerable Supermarine Southampton that had become obsolete by that date. 228 Squadron, based at Pembroke dock became the first unit to equip with the aircraft and the type remained in service with 201 and 209 squadrons until the middle of 1940.
The aircraft also met the needs of the Royal Canadian Air Force and the type was licence built in Canada, serving until 1944.
Darryl Legg's Limited Edition Art Print shows an RAF aircraft in around 1938.
