Martin Marauder Aviation Art Print by Darryl Legg

A Marauder's New Clothes - The B-26 in RAF and Commonwealth service

Flying 'Viking', Capt. Ceuppens leads SAAF B-26 Marauders, of 12 Sqdn, SAAF, back to their home base at Pescara, after successfully destroying the Rovigo railway bridge on the 9th of August, Italy, 1944.

The Marauder had been introduced into service in 1941 and supplies to the RAF began from July 1942. The initial B-26A (Marauder I) was to be plagued with problems, but these would be remedied over time so that the B-26B and later models would become some of the most successful medium bombers of WWII. Over 5000 were produced, with some 500 being supplied to the RAF and Commonwealth units
