The Lola T70 sports car started out in open form in 1965, these cars racing in the US Can-Am races with John Surtees winning the championship in 1966. A closed coupe version, the Mk3 was shown at the 1967 Racing Car Show at Olympia, this version being raced with both Chevrolet and Aston Martin engines. Competition in both international and UK racing followed with the Mk.3B gaining the types only major international success when it was driven to success in the Daytona 24 hours. The cars were popular with independent teams and remain so in historic racing circles, so much so that a 'Continuation Batch' of cars were built a few years ago. The car featured is on the Historic racing circuit as of 2013 and wears the colours of Jo Bonnier, the famous Swedish driver of BRM and Porsche Grand Prix cars, as well as the Lola.
