Growing up near to an RAF base in Northumberland, and with relatives in the Royal Air Force, it isn't surprising that Graham quickly developed an interest in aviation. As with so many of our artists this love developed into drawing and sketching aircraft from an early age and so the seeds were sown for his current profession.
Gaining O and later A Level Art at school/college he became a Graphic Designer after studying at Lincolnshire College of Art and attaining Full Membership of the Chartered Society of Designers (CSD).
Graham's connection with Hansen Fine Art is not the first time he has had work published and his initial joint venture was as Flightline Graphics, which showcased aviation prints taken from his original pencil drawings. During this time he was to receive commissions from, among others, the Royal Air Force, Royal Navy and the British Army.
Both his art and graphic design work have been used by preservation and Aviation societies and he is particularly proud of producing the initial brochure publicity that ultimately led to getting Avro Vulcan XH558 back into the air.
After developing his pencil and colour work, he joined the ranks of the Guild of Aviation Artists in 1999, currently holding Full Membership (GAvA) status. As with so many of our artists, Graham has won a number of awards at the Guild's prestigious Annual Exhibition and he was chosen to produce the publicity painting for the 2018 exhibition – quite the honour.
Graham is available for commission and his aviation works can now be completed in most of the popular painting and drawing mediums (acrylic, oil, gouache, pen and pencil among others).
