This painting shows how the first prototypes developed into the English Electric Lightning aircraft that became so famous.
The image shows the P.1/P.1A, the first P.1B (the first British aircraft to attain Mach2) and the first development batch aircraft, over RAF Boscombe Down. The keen eyed might spot the Shorts SB5 test aircraft parked below.
This is the original oil painting from which our prints are taken. It comes framed ready to hang and measures 27.5" x 19.5" (70cm x 50cm) overall
