Castle Class Locomotive Great Western Railway Art Print by Artist Stuart Booth
Though
designed by Charles Collett, the Castle class of locomotives owed much to the
Star class of Collett's predecessor, George Churchward. Indeed the first Castle
class locomotives were actually modified Stars with the first, 4073 Caerphilly

powerful locomotive. This Castle is seen skirting the famous coastline around
Dawlish with the Torbay Express in later BR days.
