De Havilland Sea Vixen FAW.2 893 Squadron HMS Hermes Aviation Art Print Painting by Artist Chris French FGAvA

First shown at the Farnborough Air Show as the DH.110, the Sea Vixen went on to become the standard fleet fighter for most of the 1960s. 

This particular aircraft, XJ571, is now preserved at the Solent Sky Museum in Southampton, Hampshire and was originally built as an FAW.1 in 1960. Converted to an FAW.2 in 1964, the aircraft would serve with numerous squadrons and carriers. She is seen here in her last colour scheme as serving on HMS Hermes as part of 893 Squadron. This is the scheme in which she can be seen today. 

She is owned by the Hallett foundation and we are thankful to Neil Hallett for his help with the history of the aircraft.
