Scottish steamer and Caledonian Railway tank engine by Transport Artist Malcolm Root
This rather
wonderful scene sees two veterans of Scottish transport together. The steamer King
George V had been built in 1926 for McBraynes and served the
Western Isles from its base in Oban
into the 1950s. The locomotive is far older, being an ex-Caledonia
Railway 0-4-4 Class 439, built in 1900.
