West Country / Battle of Britain Class locomotive birthday greetings card by Railway Artist Malcolm Root FGRA
Built in the familiar "Spam-can" configuration designed by Oliver Bulleid, a great number of the locomotives of the West Country, Battle of Britain and Merchant Navy classes underwent a major redesign and re-built into the form shown here during the 1950s. 34050 "Royal Observer Corps" was to be rebuilt in 1958, finally being withdrawn from service in August 1965.
