The Standard 7P locomotive, more commonly known as 'Britannias" after the lead locomotive were an outstandingly successful type and worked all over Britain during the 1950s and 1960s. This is 70000 "Britannia" waiting to leave on the up Norfolkman from Liverpool Street Station. The Britannias were the first pacific type locomotives to run over the old Great Eastern lines running out of Liverpool Street and were to become a great success until replaced by diesel traction at the end of steam.
