Locomotive 4498 gained the name Sir Nigel Gresley. The legendary class of
locomotives are represented by six preserved examples with no.4498, later 60007
in BR days, being one of them. Post-WWII the locomotive would produce the
highest speed attained by a steam locomotive in Britain when on 23rd May 1959
it attained 112mph.
