Darryl Legg Aviation Art Print portraying a Cessna 140

A Post War Classic - Cessna 140

The Cessna 140, introduced in 1946, was one of the aircraft that helped make private flying accessible to the post-war generation of pilots. Designed as a two-seat, all-metal light aircraft, it combined reliability, simplicity, and affordability - qualities that made it a favourite among flying clubs and private owners alike. Powered by a Continental engine, the 140 offered stable handling and good performance for both training and touring. Its distinctive fabric-covered wings and conventional tailwheel undercarriage gave it classic lines typical of the era. A simplified version, the Cessna 120, was produced alongside it, and the series eventually evolved into the tricycle-gear Cessna 150 and 152 trainers that became staples of flight schools worldwide. Durable and charming, the Cessna 140 remains a beloved vintage aircraft, still admired for its handling and nostalgic appeal.

In Darryl's Aviation Art Print, a shiny Cessna 140 flies low over its airfield at sunset, East of Johannesburg, South Africa.
