Cruise Ship Paintings - Kavounides Cruises Constitution, 1980

Built in Yugoslavia in 1962 as the Anna Nery, the ship was used on the Brazilian Coastal Route before being transferred to Lloyd-Brasilius in 1966. The ship was sold to Kavounides Lines (K-Cruises or Hellenic Cruises) in 1978 as the Danaos but was renamed Constitution the following year. Upon K-Cruises administration the ship was repossessed by the bank and after refit sold to Regency Cruises in 1992 as the Regent Spirit. Regency also fell on hard times and the ship was sold to Salamis Cruises as the Salamis Glory in 1996. The ship is still active.

In John Stewart’s Cruise Ship painting, the Constitution is seen off Santorini , one of her usual destinations on her Mediterranean voyage.
