Malcolm Root FGRA Railway Art Print featuring Gresley V4 Class locomotive 3401 Bantam Cock

London & North Eastern Railway class V4, 3401 Bantam Cock, is seen on the West Highland Line. These locomotives were specifically designed to offer greater tractive power over routes with lighter axle loadings (the number of tons the track could withstand). It was also the last locomotive designed by the LNER's legendary chief mechanical engineer, Sir Nigel Gresley. Introduced in 1941, the year of Gresley's death, only two locomotives were built, though many more had been envisioned.

Though neither locomotive were preserved, the building of a third locomotive, 3403 Highlander is planned by the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust.

Our Railway Art Print has an image size of 20" x 15" (23" x 18.5" overall) and is strictly limited to 50 copies. Each print is inspected and signed by the artist before dispatch.
