Malcolm Root FGRA Railway Art Print featuring a GWR / BR County Class locomotive.
The Last of the Line - The GWR County Class
The dominance of the 4-6-0 wheel arrangement for express locomotives of the Great Western Railway would extend to the end of steam, with the 1000 class locomotives, known to railway enthusiasts and crews alike as the 'County' class being the last in the line.
Built between 1945 and 1947, and designed by F.W Hawksworth, the thirty County class locomotives were very much in the vain of Churchward and Collett and were full of the charm and style associated with these two giants of locomotive design.
In Malcolm Root's art print we see a County, now under BR ownership and in British Railways livery outside Ranelagh Bridge depot, Paddington in the mid 1950s.
Our print has an image size of 20" x 16" (23" x 19.75" overall) and is strictly limited to 50 copies. Each print is inspected and signed by the artist before dispatch.
