She was then sold to the Ocean Queen Navigation Company and passed through several other owners before being scrapped in 1980.

 

With the advent of ever faster and more economical jet aircraft, the days of passenger liners looked all but over, yet Pendennis Castle would serve with the company until 1976. The speed of the improved liners allowed Union Castle to reduce the time and ships needed on the routes to South Africa.

 

Serving with great success during the 1960s, the ship was improved continually until her final voyage was made in 1976.

 

She was then sold to the Ocean Queen Navigation Company and passed through several other owners before being scrapped in 1980.
