McDonnell F2H Banshee Limited Edition Aviation Art Print by Aviation Artist Darryl Legg
Developed
from the companies earlier FH Phantom, the McDonnell F2H Banshee was originally intended to share many parts
with the earlier aircraft. This was quickly found to be impossible and the aircraft
was designed as an entirely new airframe.
First flying in January 1947, the Banshee would go on to serve with the US Navy, US Marine Corps and Royal Canadian Navy with almost 900 being built.
The
aircraft saw service during the Korean War, where its high altitude performance
was praised but its older, straight wing design meant that it gave up over 100
mph in top speed to the MiG-15. For this reason the aircraft was never operated
in areas where enemy aircraft could be expected and suffered no air-to-air
losses as a consequence.
Our LIMITED EDITION ART PRINT of only 50 COPIES has an image size of 14" x 10.5".
