With the fatal tragedies that befell earlier modells, much hope rested with the refined and redesigned Comet 4. Unfortunately for De Havilland, tand the British industry in general, the Boeing company had shown the future of air travel with their model 707. The Comet 4 did have a fairly successful career but could not generate the needed capital for the company to remain in the jet liner race
