Ocean Liner Art - S.S Normandie Painting
Considered by many as the greatest liner ever built, Normandie still holds the record as the worlds most powerful steam-turbine powered passenger ship. Built and operated by French Line CGT she became an international star between her maiden voyage in 1935 and the outbreak of war, holding the Blue Riband on several occasions and opening up a rivalry with Cunard’s Queen Mary. Interned by the United States she capsized while being converted to a troopship and despite being raised was scrapped in 1946. An ignominious end to a great ship.
