Gloster Meteor Post War Jet Fighter Art Print
As Britain’s first jet fighter to enter service, the Meteor will hold a place in history. Produced in fourteen different marks and holding the air speed record twice, the aircraft can be seen as a real success story for the British industry.
However, such was the speed of development in aeronautics at this time that even by 1950 the aircraft was looking somewhat old-fashioned and worse still was to be found inadequate when put up against the Soviet MiG-15 when the two aircraft met in Korea.
43 Squadron used the Meteor from 1949 until receiving the Hawker Hunter in 1954.
