Though only produced in prototype form, the TSR.2 has gone on to gain legendary status in the annals of British aviation. The aircraft first took to the skies in September 1964 but serious delays to the project and ever-increasing costs led to the project being cancelled in 1965.

Sir Sydney Camm, designer of such notable aircraft as the Hart, Hurricane, Typhoon and Hunter, famously commented of TSR.2 "All modern aircraft have four dimensions: span, length, height and politics. TSR-2 simply got the first three right."
