The magnificent Blackburn Buccaneer earned a place in history with its exceptional medium-altitude pin-point strikes on ground targets during Gulf War I. Despite this success, it was for low flying anti-shipping strikes that the aircraft had been designed in the 1950s.
RAF interest in the aircraft was initially lukewarm at best, as the service had expected either TSR.2 or at the very least the F-111.
