Blackburn Buccaneer 12 Squadron British Aviation Art Print by Aircraft Artist Stephen Chard GAvA

The magnificent Blackburn Buccaneer earned a place in history with its exceptional medium-altitude pin-point strikes on ground targets during Gulf War I. Despite this success, it was for low flying anti-shipping strikes that the aircraft had been designed in the 1950s.

RAF interest in the aircraft was initially lukewarm at best, as the service had expected either TSR.2 or at the very least the F-111. It did not take long before the pilots discovered the aircraft's superb low-level characteristics and ability to do things no other aircraft could, as demonstrated in Stephen Chard's pportrait of two aircraft from 12 squadron
