Short Stirling Aviation Art Print by Chris French GAvA
The cold, lonely nights over Germany were made much worse during winter. Here a Stirling crew prepares for boarding ahead of yet another sortie. The ungainly look of the Stirling is less war-like than the bombers that came later and overall it was a lesser aircraft than either the Halifax or Lancaster. At the beginning of its service though it offered Bomber Command a better aircraft than the Hampden or Whitley then in service.
